Art means something different to everyone and there are many ways to experience it. Whether you’re looking for a creative evening out, meaningful family time, thoughtful conversation, hands-on artmaking, or a moment to slow down and recharge, the Speed offers programs designed to spark curiosity, foster connection, and enrich well-being. Whatever brings you here, you’ll find opportunities to engage with art and each other in ways that feel welcoming and inspiring.
Speed Family: Film + fun
A quarterly Saturday morning for curious kids and their grown-ups.
Speed Family is a program for children and the adults who care for them. Each offering includes a family-friendly film, snacks, and hands-on art making inspired by the film. The program is welcoming to strollers, sensory needs, and first-time museum visitors, and is designed to help families build joyful routines around art and creativity. The cinema lobby offers space for families to play and redirect before and during the film screening. This is a program for the entire family!


Speed Social: connect + sketch
An evening of artful connection.
Speed Social is a creative happy hour that includes thematic drawing sessions, a cash bar, and thoughtful pop-up programming. Held after regular museum hours from 5 – 7 PM. Your ticket includes all drawing materials and access to the North Building galleries.
Speed Together: Explore + create
An invitation for exploration, creativity,
and connection.
Speed Together is a Sunday program that invites visitors of all ages to explore the museum, get inspired, and experience hands-on art making. Each month offers opportunities for self-guided discovery in our open art studio, thematic drop-in activities and special pop-up programming. Speed Together also includes docent–led exhibition tours and other gallery experiences as part of our regular Sunday programming.


Speed slow down: rest + restore
Guided practices for reflection and wellbeing.
Speed Slow Down is focused on mindfulness, gentle movement, and restorative experiences. Participants can enjoy guided art appreciation, gallery meditations, and wellness activities such as yoga, Tai Chi, and sound baths. Look for invitations throughout the museum to slow down, look a little longer, and practice presence. The program is designed for adults, families, and multigenerational visitors.
Speed studio: process + practice
A monthly workshops for hands-on artmaking with working artists.
Speed Studio is a program that offers hands-on workshops for different audiences, including adults, seniors, teens, and families. These workshops offer the opportunity to work with professional artists to learn a variety of artistic practices, materials, and processes. Registration for each workshop includes all materials, and no experience is required. Visit our calendar for more details including dates, time, and workshop types. Gallery admission is not included.


Speed salon: talks + theory
A quarterly Wednesday for curious minds and cultural conversation.
Speed Salon hosts artists, scholars, filmmakers, and cultural thinkers for engaging talks and conversation. Each salon offers the opportunity to engage with contemporary ideas and creative work. This program is designed for adults, students, and lifelong learners. Light refreshments are provided. Gallery admission is not included.
