The Elizabeth P. and Frederick K. Cressman Art Park is a new three-acre green space surrounding the Speed Art Museum that invites everyone to experience the power of art in the open air. Featuring contemporary sculptures, native plantings, and thoughtfully designed spaces to sit and enjoy the surroundings, it’s a free, welcoming place to explore, reflect, and connect. Rooted in our belief that art belongs to all, Art Park brings our mission outdoors—sparking curiosity, enriching well-being, and strengthening community.
What Art Park offers
- A new kind of Museum experience. The Speed Art Park reimagines what a museum can be. With art nestled among native trees, pollinator gardens, and shaded pathways, the Art Park is open to all—free, ungated, and available every day of the year.
- Art in conversation with nature. Large-scale sculptures by visionary artists anchor a landscape of native flora and accessible walkways. Guests are invited to experience these works at their own pace. Learn more about the sculptures on view.
- Well-being in every sense. Art Park is a restorative space where art and nature come together to support physical, mental, and emotional well-being. It’s a place to connect and reflect, fostering both individual and community health.

A grand-opening celebration and ribbon-cutting on October 1, 2025, officially unveiled the Elizabeth P. and Frederick K. Cressman Art Park. Dignitaries and special guests included Kentucky First Lady Britainy Beshear, Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg, Kentucky Representative Emily Callaway, University of Louisville President Gerry Bradley, Managing Principal of Reed Hilderbrand John Kett, Board Chair John Crockett, and Speed Capital Campaign Co-Chairs Victoria Diaz and Todd Lowe. The Art Park isn’t just beautiful—it’s purposeful. Working with arborists and plant experts, the Reed Hilderbrand-designed park will strengthen Louisville’s urban ecosystem for generations to come. Frequently asked questions for Art Park
Professional or commercial photography must be scheduled through the Museum.
Service animals are welcome under ADA guidelines. All other pets must be leashed and stay on designated walkways. Pets are not permitted in or on art, water features, or gathering spaces. Please clean up after your pet.
Outside food welcome in small amounts. Please reserve cafe seating for cafe patrons.
Please smoke only in designated areas.
Prohibited items include: weapons and firearms, open flames and grills, amplified music, drones, glass containers, lawn chairs, alcoholic beverages.
No recreational riding or tricks. Bicycle racks are available—please do not lock bikes to trees, furniture, or sculptures.
Do not climb or touch artworks unless otherwise indicated. No walking or playing in water features. Please don’t climb trees, hang hammocks, or set up slacklines. Ball games, frisbee, and similar play are not permitted. Kindly use designated trash and recycling bins
