Speed Together: Explore + Create 

A monthly Sunday of art, creativity, and self-guided discovery 

Speed Together is a free Sunday program where visitors of all ages can explore the Speed’s collections and galleries at their own pace. Each session offers opportunities for self-guided discovery, light creative activities, and quiet moments to reflect, connect, or experiment with artmaking. Families, friends, and first-time visitors can enjoy a relaxed, flexible experience designed to make the museum welcoming and accessible to everyone. We encourage registration.

From 1 – 4 pm, visitors can experience a variety of offerings, including but not limited to the following:

Open Studio, 2 – 4 pm in the Classroom
A flexible, drop-in studio experience designed for independent exploration and creative play. Open Studio offers a self-guided environment with accessible materials, light prompts, and space to experiment freely, no instruction, no pressure. Whether you’re inspired after exploring the museum, continuing a project, trying something new, or simply looking for a quiet moment of making, our classroom becomes your space to explore, reflect, and create at your own rhythm. 

Special Programming 

Learn the Art of Storytelling
1 – 2 PM in Gheen’s Court 
 

Screenwriter Karin Partin Wells will demonstrate how to apply a few basic principles to create a solid foundation for any type of story. If you’ve ever wanted to hone your creative writing skills, whether it’s a play, a short story, a novel, or a screenplay, visit the Speed’s skill share to workshop your story for free! You’ll learn a simple structure that allows for creative freedom and lets originality shine. 

Karin Partin Wells is an award-winning screenwriter and producer with twenty-five years of film experience. After starting her career in the Soho art world and working as a camera assistant, she attended NYU Tisch to focus on storytelling. She has since served as a screenwriting consultant and development executive for companies in NYC and LA. Locally, she has taught writing at Young Authors Greenhouse, Actors Theatre of Louisville, and Kentucky Shakespeare. She also sits on the board of Women in Film Kentucky and is a certified art therapist and writing coach.
