Location: Upper galleries, South Building

Kincentrcity is an indigenous worldview that posits the relationship between humans and nature as kinship rather than resource. In many North American Native cultures, the elements, flora, and fauna are seen as elder relatives with whom we are meant to be in right relationship with. If you were to reframe your connection to the earth and its elements, what would it look like? Would you spend more time smiling once the sun returns after a long winter’s night? The works in this upcoming rotation explore this interconnectivity through imagery, form, concept, and technique.

Special thanks to Alan and Shelly Ann Kamei for their foundational support of the collection
