Project: In the Grain: Inspired by LaVon Van Williams Jr.
Facilitated by: Shadia Nilforoush and Stephen Batiz
Join us for a hands-on art workshop inspired by Lexington artist LaVon Van Williams Jr., known for his carved panels that speak to his own life, identity, and experiences. Bring a simple drawing or sketch that reflects who you are; this can be a self-portrait or any subject matter (i.e., a teapot because you are known for your love of tea). Participants will transfer their drawings onto basswood, carve their designs, and bring them to life with color. Please note that carving can be hard on the hands, and we ask you to consider this before registering. No experience is needed; all materials are provided.
