This beautiful little painting recently came to us as part of a major bequest, and we want to ensure it looks as fresh as possible before installing it in the permanent collection galleries. This is a straightforward treatment; the painting is in good condition overall, with a layer of discolored, aging varnish on the surface of the panel. There are a few areas of small retouching that need to be addressed.
The frame will be padded out to further support the wooden painted panel, and a backing board will be installed to ensure the artwork is safe and secure. There are a few small areas of loss that will be filled in and corrected for overall visual improvement and stability.
