CANCELED: SocialEyes: (Re)Connecting

January 28, 2022 at 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

SocialEyes: (Re)Connecting

We live in strange times. At the start of 2020, you might have had some big plans for the future. And then suddenly, many of those plans were put on hold. If you feel like you haven’t done anything normal for a while, please join us.

Each 2 hour monthly event offers ways to check in with yourself, and other adults around you. In a casual space, where we can breathe and laugh, we discuss a single artwork in the galleries, focused on something you might have felt during the pandemic (isolation, disappointment, loss, etc.). Then we make our own art work, giving us a new perspective on your experiences.

Zoom calls and emails often aren’t enough when you really want to connect with someone far away. We will tour Ralph Eugene Meatyard’s The Unforeseen Wilderness  as an example of how an artist shares a private journey. Then we will create personal audio recordings to document special moments that can be shared, re-mixed, and surprisingly useful for feeling less isolated.

You don’t need to be an artist. You just need to be a person who wants to make sense of these strange times we live in.

For safety, in-person workshops will be limited to 16 participants, ages 21+. Proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test are required to attend.
