“A soaring, decades-spanning romance that make you catch your breath.”—David Rooney, The Hollywood Reporter

Nora and Hae Sung, two deeply connected childhood friends, are wrest apart after Nora’s family emigrates from South Korea. Two decades later, they are reunited in New York for one fateful week as they confront notions of destiny, love, and the choices that make a life, in this heartrending modern romance.

The film is centered on the Korean concept of In-yun, meaning providence or fate stemming from two people’s connection in a past life. The two childhood friends must determine if their meetings in their past lives is leading up to the culmination of true love in this life or if they’re to reconnect in a future life.

Further complicating their discovery is that Nora is in a healthy marriage to a Jewish New Yorker who is supportive of her friendship with Hae Sung, but curious about the nature of their relationship.

This is the auspicious debut film from New York-based playwright Celine Song. Since its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival and inclusion at the Berlin Film Festival, this romantic film has been resonating with audiences and is one of the top independent films of the year. Song is a rising star in the film world, and this is not to be missed. 2023, U.S., DCP, in English and Korean with English subtitles, 106 minutes. Rated PG-13.
