Screened in conjunction with the current exhibition Kentucky Women: Helen LaFrance, this documentary covers the life and work ok Kentucky-born artist LaFrance. She was a self-taught artist represented in many notable public and private collections. LaFrance worked in a variety of media, creating woodcarvings, quilts, and dolls, but she was best known for her memory paintings—recollections of her life that suggest a common experience and strike an emotional chord with viewers. 2021, U.S., video, 50 minutes. Program length with discussion: 90 minutes. Recommended for 16+.

With a post-screening discussion with Executive Producer Bruce Shelton via Zoom hosted by Speed Art Museum Chief Curator/Mary & Barry Bingham Sr. Curator of Painting and Sculpture Erika Holmquist-Wall and Speed Curator of Film Dean Otto.  A tour of Kentucky Women: Helen LaFrance led by Holmquist-Wall follows the discussion.
