“It captures beauty and turmoil, sometimes in the same frame.” Harrison Richlin, IndieWire
East of Wall is an authentic portrait of female resilience in the ‘New West’ inspired and played by the women and girls who live it. Director Kate Beecroft’s debut feature is a stunning piece of docufiction.
Set in the Badlands of South Dakota, Tabatha, a young, rebellious rancher, who rescues and resells horses, must make hard decisions to deal with her fractured family, financial uncertainty, and unresolved grief, all while providing refuge for a group of wayward neighborhood teens.
Tabatha heads up a mixture of chosen and biological family who center on the care and training of horses as an avenue for healing. Competing in rodeo competitions brings attention to their work but also challenges their independence. Winner of the Audience Award-Next at the Sundance Film Festival. 2025, U.S., DCP, 97 minutes.
