Cultivating Mindfulness in Times of Community Tragedy

Presented by: Mental Health Lou (Amanda Villaveces, LMFT and Shelly Sowell, LPCC)

The recent tragedy in Louisville has left many of us feeling overwhelmed, anxious, and uncertain about the future. In these difficult times, practicing mindfulness can help us cope with the stress and turmoil we are experiencing.

This 30-minute workshop is designed to provide a safe and supportive space for individuals to come together and learn mindfulness practices that can help ease the emotional and psychological distress associated with the tragedy.

During this workshop, participants will be guided through a series of mindfulness exercises that focus on cultivating present-moment awareness, self-compassion, and emotional regulation. These exercises may include mindful breathing, body scans, and visualization techniques.

By the end of the workshop, participants will have gained a better understanding of how mindfulness can help them manage their emotions and cope with difficult experiences. They will also have the opportunity to connect with others who are going through a similar experience, providing a sense of community and support during a challenging time.

No prior experience with mindfulness is necessary to attend this workshop. All are welcome.
