In this loose remake of Prince’s Purple Rain, by the way of The Harder They Come, director and self-proclaimed “guerilla ethnomusicologist” Christopher Kirkley engages West African music in his striking film debut that is the first ever Tuareg-language film.

Guitar player and African music sensation Mdou Moctar stars as the purple motorcycle-riding musician tearing up the desert between home recording studios and guitar parties.
