“These are the images that encapsulate what fighting to uphold the Constitution really means, and are necessary to hold on to in these times.”—Beandrea July, The Hollywood Reporter

The Fight is an inspiring, emotional insider look at how these important battles are fought and the legal gladiators on the front lines fighting them.  The film follows a team of dedicated American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) lawyers who are representing lawsuits challenging recent policies on reproductive rights, immigration, and LGBT rights.

Directors Elyse Steinberg, Josh Kriegman, and Eli Despres, who won the Sundance Grand Jury prize for their preview documentary Weiner, capture the rollercoaster ride of the thrill and defeat in these deeply human battles. When a mother is separated from her child, a soldier is threatened to lose his career, a young woman’s right to choose is imperiled by the beliefs of government official, and the ability to exercise our basic right to vote is threatened, the consequences can be devastating to us and to future generations.

Immediately following the film there will be a pre-recorded discussion between Kerry Washington and the four ACLU lawyers featured in the film (Brigitte Amiri, Lee Gelernt, Dale Ho, and Chase Strangio). This conversation is exclusive to virtual cinema and in-theater engagements.

The Fight celebrates the unsung heroes who fiercely work to protect our freedoms including Brigitte Amiri, ACLU’s Deputy Director of the Reproductive Freedom Project, who has been working closely with the ACLU-KY. 2020, U.S., 96 minutes.  Rated PG.
