Since
its founding in 1966, Charter Collectors has become a
national model for encouraging community participation
in building a museum collection. We invite you to join
us and support the group’s vital role in advancing
the Speed’s mission of “bringing great art
and people together.”
Charter Collectors’ acquisitions span the centuries
from antiquity to 1945. Members participate actively in
the process by joining Museum Curators in
visiting art galleries in America and abroad
and by voting on acquisitions at the annual dinner. This
exceptional access to some of the world’s best dealers
and to curatorial expertise has introduced many Charter
Collectors to the joys of personal collecting. |

The
Decorative Arts Collectors’ activities and acquisitions
span a wide range of time periods and materials. The group
explores everything from French porcelains to Kentucky
quilts to the designs of Frank Lloyd Wright and everything
in between. While the focus is on North America and Europe,
the group also makes occasional forays into the arts of
Asia and other regions. This balanced approach ensures
an exciting, diverse program of events designed to appeal
to a wide range of interests. Regardless of the subject,
every event will sharpen the eye and provide unique insights
into the history of the decorative arts. |
