Self-Guided Activities

Self-guided gallery activities for all ages are available Wednesday through Sunday at the Guest Relations desk. Choose from four different options – Gallery Guides, See Stop Sketch, Family Bags, and Slow Down at the Speed – depending on your interests. Whether you are a first time visitor or a seasoned museum goer, looking for a quiet reflective experience or wanting to play games with your friends, there is a gallery activity that will appeal to everyone!

Gallery Guides are booklets full of games and suggestions for exploring the Speed. Make sure you grab a pencil from the front desk to complete your guide.

See Stop Sketch includes all the materials you need to sketch in the galleries, including a drawing board, pencils, paper, and a fun prompt if you need help getting started.

Family Bags are aimed at children from ages 2—10. Each thematic bag contains a list of artworks to see, gallery activities and games, and books to read. Current themes include: Colors and Shapes, Animals, and Nature.

Slow Down at the Speed is an audio program that encourages you to spend an extended length of time with one work of art. The Speed Art Museum is collaborating with UofL Health Promotion to provide guidance that will enhance your present moment experiences in the Speed. We have suggested a gallery for each prompt, but you are welcome to engage with another artwork if it catches your eye. LISTEN NOW
