Teacher Professional Development Workshop: STEAM 1
The difference between being an “artist” and being a “scientist” is smaller than we think. This workshop explores important science and engineering practices from the perspective of an art teacher, as we strongly make the case for keeping the A (arts) in STEAM. Includes a tour of Tales from the Turf: The Kentucky Horse and an art lesson that will make your fellow science teachers jealous.
Our professional development workshops are designed to provide K-12 teachers with resources and ideas that are original, easy to use, and in support of Core Learning Standards. These highly interactive sessions provide varied experiences, from large group discussions to individual explorations, to keep everyone engaged. Join us to explore how the Speed’s collection and special exhibitions can help your students discover connections between artworks and the world in which we live.
Teacher Testimonial: “Looking at different ways to create cross-curricular content through your activities challenged me to think in new ways about familiar content.”
Teachers must register in advance and there is a workshop fee of $15 per person. Teachers will earn three CPE credits for attending one workshop.
