Presented by Commonwealth Theatre Center and presented as part of Open Studio.
Zaynab’s Night of Destiny is an audio immersive play with accompanying book, inspired by young people from Louisville who identify as Muslim, first-generation American, queer, refugee, and/or part of the disability community. CTC and The Speed will display original artwork by Hend al-Mansour and curate a craft activity based on the story as well as a scavenger hunt based on imagery from the book. Playwright Denmo Ibrahim will also be on site to speak to the creative process at 2 pm.
Commonwealth Theatre Center’s Connecting Cultures project, which focuses on partnership with international artists to create work that provides increased representation of Middle Eastern/North African voices in children’s literature, has culminated in this amazing story.
We hope you’ll join us for this special event as we celebrate and introduce this one-of-a-kind story to the Louisville community!
Connecting Cultures is made possible through generous grants from the Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art and the National Endowment for the Arts.
