Outside the Windows with Father Patrick Dolan

January 19 at 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Father Patrick Dolan presents in-depth information about the two elegant stained-glass windows in the Tapestry Gallery. These windows are originally from Park Abbey in Leuven Belgium, a city rich in history with a 60,000 student university that dates back to the early 1400s.

That Norbertine Abbey still calls people to see beyond their everyday pursuits, inspired by artwork that invites them into contact with their creator. Come, dare to take a look for yourself and see what calls to you.

About the Speaker:
Fr. Patrick Dolan, PhD, SThD, has been a priest of the Louisville archdiocese, ordained in the Cathedral on our 6th street almost 42 years ago and has served in a variety of parishes.  He is also a non-metal synthetic inorganic chemist and helps teach chemistry at Immaculata Academy on Preston near Fern Valley.  Recently retired as a Brigadier General from the US Army where he was the senior chaplain in the National Guard for the whole nation, he has served all over the world including in Iraq, Somalia, Korea and other locations equally dangerous. Author of 5 books, 4 of which are an adventure story (“Traces of Magic” series in 4 parts published through Amazon) about Kentucky in the 1300s, as well as many articles that range from spirituality to strategic gaming theory to military tactics to world history to chemical reactions, he has also published several poems and written some music. At present he is working on integrating science and theology through the works of John Duns Scotus and Charles Saunders Peirce at KU Leuven Belgium–where the Park Abbey is located. Though officially retired, he assists at Our Mother of Sorrows parish and also at the Catholic Campus Ministry of University of Louisville. He will gladly share poetry with anyone because he believes “that if a chemist can publish poetry anyone can do anything!” but will not inflict poetry on anyone without their informed consent.
