Adult Workshop: Finding Inspiration in Writing
Find inspiration within the galleries while soaking in creative advice from local author Dr. Kristi Maxwell. Kristi Maxwell has published six books of poetry, scholarly publications on experimental writing practices, is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Arizona, and is currently an assistant professor in the Department of English at the University of Louisville.
This workshop is perfect for those struggling with writer’s block or looking for new methods to strengthen their writing practice. Attendants will have the opportunity to read writings and gain inspiration from artists in our collection, including the surreal poetry and prose of sculptor Juan Muñoz, the Flannery O’Connor short story referenced in Ralph Eugene Meatyard’s posthumous photography publication The Family Album of Lucybelle Crater, and contemporary writings of Lakota Sioux poet Joel Waters. At the end of the workshop, attendants can share their own work and receive feedback from the group.
Members $10 | Non-members $20
