These charming sisters would be enhanced by a frame worthy of their lovely complexions. This is a gilded period frame, carved entirely from wood. While structurally stable, there are many, many areas of loss scattered throughout the frame, revealing wood loss and abraded gilding. There is a very, very thick layer of coal soot, dirt, and grime on the surface, which dramatically darkens the entire frame.
This would be a major treatment, with dramatic results. Cleaning tests in the bottom proper right and left corners reveal a generally intact bright, gold gilding. We’ll be really excited to see the finished, treated frame!
