Jeffrey Johnson will speak about Ai Weiwei’s impact as an activist, artist, and architect. He will specifically share some of Ai’s thoughts on the future of the museum in China as well discuss his lesser known approach to architecture in the radically transforming landscape of urban China.
Jeffrey Johnson is the director of the School of Architecture at the University of Kentucky School of Design and a principal of SLAB Architecture. For over a decade, Johnson has been researching the radical transformation of the urban and architectural landscape of China. He is currently working on a book that tracks the causes and consequences of the recent unprecedented museum building boom in China.
Ai Weiwei’s Circle of Animals Zodiac Heads will be on display on the 1927 Building Lawn at the Speed Museum through September 24, 2017.
