The English people of the time loved pageantry,
theater, and symbolism. The English royalty made great visits (called processions)
into the countryside, where wealthy landowners and nobility would host vast
feasts, with entertainment, and dancing. The Drewes were themselves wealthy
landowners and may have hosted royal and noble guests at The Grange. In addition
to hosting royal and noble guests, the Drewes were landlords to many tenant
farmers, and may have hosted great events and receptions for the tenants as
well.
