No, the oak paneled room was installed
with modifications at the Speed in 1944. The configuration is not the same
as in the original house – the room was longer and the extra sections
of paneling have apparently been moved to the sidewalls. Additional infill
panels were created. The main door to the rest of the house was the present
carved door (closed), and the side windows were not set in bays as they are
now. The windows are a variety of stained glass brought from elsewhere, and
of a different period. The original windows had stone mullions and probably
clear glass. The original ceiling is still in the house, and was lower than
the ceiling at the Speed. It is white plaster with elaborate cast ornamental
strapwork and medallions..
