Festival Z, the first annual audio and film festival hosted by Z Media, showcases the media talents of middle and high school students across Jefferson County. Each selection focuses on various definitions and interpretations of community through the form of an audio narrative, a short film, or a long-form film. Members of the local film community served as judges and the same one-hour program of seven films will screening at each program. Awards will be presented following the 12:30 pm screening.

The showcase will be a meeting place for film lovers of all ages to broaden their local film communities and together enjoy the creative perspectives and abilities of local students. Festival Z will be hosted by Z Media in partnership with the Speed. Z Media is a student-teacher media studies organization composed of members of the Jefferson County community. Created in 2016 by students and teachers at duPont Manual High School, the organization focuses mainly on audio and film for the purpose of student growth, exploration, and expression.
