“Her fairy-tale inspired work made her one of the most important early women in the film industry.” —Pamela Hutchinson, The Guardian

Lotte Reiniger was one of the first female animators who honed her signature style of silhouette animation.  As a child, she was fascinated with the Chinese art of shadow puppetry and adapted the style to dozens of film adaptations of fairy tales.

This collection of delightful short films includes Cinderella, Puss in Boots, Snow White and Rose Red, and Thumbelina.

1954, Germany, video, silent with music and English intertitles, 30 minutes. Recommended for all ages.

These screenings are made possible by the Goethe Institut.
