“Inspirational, uplifting and often hilarious. Gould has created the perfect documentary.” —William Garre, The Upcoming

Each morning, a small staff of wry and thoughtful obituary writers at the New York Times draft the details of three or four extraordinary lives in the current cultural memory—each life’s story spun amid the daily beat of war, politics and football scores. This incredible documentary demonstrates the brilliant writing skill that goes into the obits.

Looking beyond the byline into those chronicling life after death on the freshly inked front lines of history, the film invites some of the most essential questions we must ask ourselves about life, memory and the inevitable passage of time. The deeds that require acknowledgment as part of our cultural history and how will we be remembered are at the forefront of their work. A selection of the Tribeca Film Festival. 2016, U.S., DCP, 95 minutes. Recommended for 13+.
