This documentary demonstrates the relationships that exist and are being developed among the Oceti Sakowin (Lakota, Dakota, Nakota) peoples and the Sunka Wakan (Horse Nation). It focuses on the Sinte Gleska University’s Tiwahe Glu Kini Pi (Bringing the Family Back to Life) program that connects troubled youth with a curriculum on Lakota history and culture that includes horses and traditions. This equine therapy helps the young people reconnect with practices that help them redirect and thrive. 2014, U.S., video, 110 minutes. Recommended for all ages.

This screening is held in conjunction with the exhibition Picturing American Indian Cultures: The Art of Kentucky’s Frederick Weygold on view through March 26.
