Speed Camps

Week-long day camps offer a variety of fun, hands-on activities that encourage children to be creative thinkers, bold art makers, and playful collaborators.

Registration will be available starting in January 2018.

 

Registration information:
-Registration is first come, first served. Enrollment for each camp is limited to 15 participants.
-All tuition must be paid in full at the time of registration.
-Camps are designed to meet the needs of specific age ranges and developmental abilities.
-Participants must meet age requirements for each camp.

 

Spring Break Camp
Prices: $200 Patron Circle members / $210 members / $250 non-members

Art Time Machine!
April 2-6, 9 am-4 pm
Ages 6-9
Would you rather travel to ancient worlds, dream about the future, or stay right where you are? Participants in this camp don’t have to choose. Campers will explore art making of the past, present, and future, compare and contrast artists across the centuries, and put their techniques to the test in their own creations. REGISTER

 

Summer Camps

STEAM Spectacular
June 11-15, 9 am-4 pm
Ages 6-9
If you’ve ever wondered about the science of color, the meaning of symmetry, or how that sculpture stands up on its own, this might be the camp for you. Campers will connect concepts of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math through dynamic works of Art, combining art making and experimentation for a week filled with fun. REGISTER

Taking Shape
June 18-22, 9 am-4 pm
Ages 6-9
Dive into a world of three-dimensional art in this sculpture focused camp. While learning about the process of sculpture from concept to creation, campers will design, assemble, and transform a variety of materials into works of art that stand out from the rest. REGISTER

Around the World
June 25-29, 9 am-4 pm
Ages 6-9
Traverse the globe and uncover art making techniques from different cultures — all without leaving the museum. Campers will discover different parts of the world through various media, including art, music, and storytelling, while creating artworks inspired by their travels. REGISTER

Modern Makers
July 9-13, 9 am-4 pm
Ages 6-9
Out with the old, in with the new! In this camp, participants will draw inspiration from 20th century artists, experiment with innovative techniques and materials, and discover expression through painting, printmaking, and more. REGISTER

 

Extended Care: For families who need childcare beyond the hours of 9 am-4 pm, we offer extended care between 8 am-9 am and 4 pm-5 pm on camp days. Choose this option when registering.
Price: Additional $50 per week

 

Preschool + Parent Camp
Parent or guardian accompanies children who have not yet started school.
Prices: $35 members / $50 non-members

Super Senses: Art Exploration
July 16-20, 10:00 am-11:30 am

Ages 3-4
Our five senses help us explore and learn about our world! Each day of camp, we will make beautiful works of art inspired by the Museum’s collection that engage our senses and stimulate cognitive development. REGISTER

 

Important Information

Location
All camps take place at the Speed Art Museum, located at 2035 South Third Street.

Dress Code
-Closed-toe shoes are required for safety. No flip flops or sandals.
-Although aprons are provided to protect clothing, campers should wear appropriate attire for working with potentially messy art materials.
-The Museum can be chilly with air conditioning during the summer. Your camper may wish to bring a sweater or sweatshirt.

Lunches
Campers should bring their own non-perishable lunch and water bottle with their name on it. Lunches should not require refrigeration or microwaving. Supervised lunches will be from 12 pm-1 pm daily.

Late Fees
A $2.00 per minute late fee will be charged for every camper picked up after the published end time of their registration. The end time for regular pickup is 4 pm, and the end time for extended care is 5 pm.
