Volunteers pARTnership

The pARTnership (formerly the Alliance) was founded as the volunteer arm of the Speed Art Museum in 1972 to help Support the various programs, activities, and events that occur regularly at the museum. Todayís members continue the original mission of service in many ways. Examples of assistance to the Museum include: providing outreach through our Speakers Bureau and other community programs, planning excursions and programming for membership bases, aiding the daily work of museum staff, and fundraising. The pARTnership heads the museumís principal fundraiser, The Speed Art Museum Ball, held every first Saturday in March.

For more information about the pARTnership, please call 502.637.6363 or email alliance@speedmuseum.org

Internships

The Speed Art Museum offers an array of internships throughout the year to qualified graduate and undergraduate students. The Speed's intern program allows students from various educational backgrounds to work with and learn from museum professionals, promoting an awareness of careers in the field through experiences not available in most academic settings. Our goal is to ensure that the internship experience is one that challenges and grows each participant, while helping the Museum fulfill its mission.

All internship placements are made by the intern coordinator, based on project availability and the individual's qualifications.

The Speed also welcomes local high school students to learn more about careers in the art museum by hosting students for a week-long shadowing. Students can visit with and talk to museum professionals from various departments to learn more about educational backgrounds and career options within the art museum. For more information on this program please email intern@speedmuseum.org.

For more information on the Speedís intern program, contact Neal Augustus, Manager of Human Resources, at naugustus@speedmuseum.org.

All volunteers and interns must submit to a background check as part of the application process.
